Automatic Bollards - Rhondda Cynon Taff County Borough Council

Macs Automatic Bollards Project

Location: Pontypridd Town Centre
Application: Bus Gate
System: MACS 275/P800 Automatic Bollard
Standard: Highways Agency TR2207A

Rhondda Cynon Taff County Council asked Macs Automated Bollards to advise on the restriction of traffic flow in a busy Pontypridd town centre street, the requirement was to allow only bus access the main shopping street between certain hours, they also needed to permit access for deliveries at ad hoc times whilst ensuring emergency crews could gain unobstructed access when required.

Macs Automated Bollards surveyed the location and recommended a time and tagmaster controlled system with emergency key and intercom access which means that the bollards are raised during the required hours but also allows the buses to travel through without interruption, the intercom allows ad hoc deliveries to be completed with minimum delay and emergency crew are able to use the key access supplied.

This system is safe and effective and is also linked to CCTV with remote fault monitoring; the system is designed to reduce the cost of maintaining the automated bollards in the event of a collision and results in costs of repairs coming from the insured driver.
