Plymouth City Council needed to control traffic on either side of the newly constructed Drake Circus shopping mall in order to turn what was previously a busy city centre through road into a more pedestrian friendly area without totally barring traffic. Macs Automated Bollards installed an automatic rise and fall bollard system at two locations in the city centre which has created a highly effective traffic calming solution. The automated bollard solution installed by Macs Bollards has allowed vehicles to continue travelling through the area but also allows pedestrians to move safely through what is now a very busy shopping area.
By combining Macs bollards with our fault monitoring and CCTV linkup Plymouth City Council are able to resolve technical issues quickly whilst also ensuring that any collision damage is unlikely to come out of council budgets
