Fault Monitoring

MACS Fault Monitoring system is our flagship product and it has been fully designed and developed by Macs Automated Bollard Systems Ltd.

The Fault Monitoring system is crucial to the operational performance and safety of the automatic bollard system. It is a Mitsubishi PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) based system, and its purpose is to control and watch the operational protocols and functions of the many components that make up the overall vehicle control system.

Through a complicated software programme we can regulate and make the bollard perform to specific requirements. For example, if the bollard is required to be operational during certain time periods i.e. raised at 1000 until 1800, this is all controlled through the ‘PLC’. Likewise, we can programme the bollard to rise to full height following a vehicle once all four induction loops have been left unoccupied and it is safe to do so, and so on.

The system is also designed to take certain actions should a ‘fault’ be detected, especially to any of it’s safety circuits, these include the traffic indicators and induction loops and will result in the bollard ‘failing safe’ in the down position. All of this happens automatically.

To be able to provide best service possible Fault Monitoring systems are accesable remotely via PSTN dial-up modems or Broadband.
